While we were there, the dive school celebrated their first anniversary, and
did so with a pizza party on the deck. It was attended by the staff, friends, and probably
a bunch of strangers who just happened by. A good time was had by all. |
| The first couple of dives I made with Nadia and the rest were with
Kirk. Both were good dive leaders and made sure that the divers had a great time. Several
dives were with a couple of newlyweds, Jared and Janya. I hope they had as much fun diving as I did |

| Probably the best of my dives was to "Spooky Channel". If you visit
Roatan, this is a "Must Do" dive. The channel itself is about 65' deep and the bottom is a sandy
area about 20' across. The walls above sloped inward and the opening at the top is
probably only 5 to 10 feet across. Makes for some really interesting views with lots of
shadows. |

Upon entering the water at "Spooky Chanel" we found about a half dozen large "welfare groupers"
who were apparently waiting for a handout. We had no fish snacks, but we still enjoyed
swimming with the big dudes. They probably considered us lousy tippers.

| The boats at Octopus were outboards, the one pictured here was about 20' and the larger
one was about five feet longer with a much larger motor. On the way to "Spooky Channel" in
the faster boat, we
got a liberal dosing of spray from the sizable waves. The captain bailed the excess while one
of the clients found a new use for his wetsuit as a spray shield. |

Texas wall was one of my favorite Roatan dive sites. I visited there both in
'05 and again in '06 and loved this site both times. The beautiful black corals
and the prolific fish life make it a favorite of most of the folks I talked
to around Roatan. Sometimes called Pablo's place, this is another "must do" dive. |
